What is new and exciting around the Web?

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania metal band Total F’N Destruction, featuring Brutal Truth drummer Richard Hoak, has released a new track on their MySpace page, which will be on the band’s new album, due for release in Europe at the end of October.

Massachusetts hardcore band Hatebreed have put their new live DVD on ITunes, making it the first metal DVD available for rent or purchase on the Apple program. [Blabbermouth]

Exodus, Kreator, and Warbringer will be hitting up New York and Philadelphia in early April of 2009. All three bands put on a great live show, so don’t miss out. [SMN News]

The Brutal Truth Shall Be Revealed Soon Enough

I opened up my mail today and a friend sent me a link from Blabbermouth.net about New York grindcore band Brutal Truth entering the studio next week.

For those who have been following my column, “What The Hell Happened To…” on 411 Mania, I recently did a column about their debut album. I’m really excited by the news and it is nice to see that the band is working hard on an album full of new material for the first time in over a decade.

Highlights of Article:

  • Brutal Truth is entering a Lockport, NY studio on Monday
  • 24 songs are written, including “Detached” and “Evolution Through Revolution”
  • A live mini-album from a 1997 show, “For Drug Crazed Grindfreaks Only!”, will be reissued in October

What Happened To Anthrax?

Remember when Anthrax was awesome? Remember when they kicked ass night in and night out, even with John Bush as the vocalist during the 90’s?

I’m willing to give new vocalist Dan Nelson some time before being able to fill the tight shoes of Joey Belladonna or John Bush, but if this video, which is of ”Caught In The Mosh” live this past May, is any indication, Anthrax fans might be disappointed yet again. That’s nothing new for fans, as the band hasn’t released anything worthwhile this past decade, save for 2003’s “We’ve Come For You All”.

The band sounded sloppy, Dan Nelson was out of tune and behind the rest of the band half the time, and the energy seemed to be sapped out of the band. Due to my love of the band, I will give their new album, whenever it comes out, a chance, but my anticipation is definitely at an all-time low for Anthrax.
